A tumulus cemetery came to light in the Industrial zone of Drama in the lowland (S of the country road Drama-Prosotsani). Three tumuli were excavated (A, B, C) that included cremations and inhumations, mainly in pithoi. Some burials were disturbed because of the subsequent burials of the tumuli. The three tumuli had 9-10 m. diameter and 0.70-0.90 m height. They were built from stones and soil forming a stone cairn ("λιθοσωρός"). Among the secondary cremation, one urn is a wheelmade amphora decorated with concentric circles dated from the LG found along with a bronze fibula dated to the 7th c. BC. No anthropological analysis has been conducted or published. According to the preliminary reports, enchytrismoi seem to have contained only children and a dog (Tumulus B, Tomb Π3). In the same tumulus, the enchytrismoi Π1 and Π2 contained each two children. The grave goods are not presented in detail. They include pottery (handmade, channeled and incised ware), jewellery (bronze and gold hair coils) (sphecoters), a bead and bronze fibulae. Some weapons were attested (a iron sword type Naue II, 2 iron spearheads), as well as 2 spindle-whorls and iron tools. According to Peristeri, this cemetery may be associated with the EIA settlement at Profitis Ilias in Xiropotamos.
