A cemetery in use from the LG until the late Rom period was found at Paroikia, near the modern port. The cremations of ca. 160 men are the earliest burials, found in two big cist graves. Based mainly on the battle scenes on two urns, the deceased must have been warriors. Graves of the 7th and 6th c. BC were found on and around these 2 graves. The graves were grouped and each group is surrounded by walls. The majority are cist graves with cremation burials, as well as a number of enchytrismoi (child burials?). A stele was found near the SW corner of this area and opposite the rectangular cist grave (h.: 2.30 m, w.:0.80-0.90 m), which was crowned with a rectangular slab. The lower part of the stele is separated in four sections like a roof panel. The upper part of the stele was designed to receive a free-standing object. The stele was erected as a marker around the end of the 7th or the beginning of the 6th c. BC. A wall probably enclosed the whole area. Outside this area, more A graves were found. Another stele, decorated with an incised enthroned female figure, dating to 700 BC, was found in the cemetery.
