A cluster of 3 EIA graves was uncovered in 1989 at the site of Koupoutsina (plot no 498), 250 m E of ancient Aiani (Megali Rachi Hill). They are inhumations in cist graves. The floor of Tomb 2 was paved and contained 2 burials (one in primary position and a secondary previous burial). The finds recorded as following: handmade vessels, iron knives, spearheads, bronze jewellery, bronze pendant with schematic male figure at one end ("jug-stopper" type), a bone fibula and wooden objects (pendants?). The graves have not been fully published neither the anthropological analysis. The cluster dates from the Early to the Late Iron Age, since Tomb 3 is dated to the 7th c. BC. According to G. Karamitrou-Mentesidi this cluster of graves as well as the clusters of graves found around the hill of Megali Rachi indicate social organization in groups.
