In 2011, excavations began close to the archaeological site of ancient Aiani (Kozani). The remains from the settlement that have been revealed can be dated in the LA until LCl era. However, the date of the settlement can change, since between the small finds it was found a piece of a cup. Under the rim of the cup it can be read the letters ERE (written with direction from left to right) and this find can be dated in the beginning of the 7th c. BC. As a consequence it can be supposed that the settlement could have been inhabited from the LG.
