The settlement flourished from the MG period presenting also a significant bulk of Euboean and Attic pottery. The settlement has been identified as the ancient Chalastra or Sindos (Soueref 2011, 329). According to Tiverios this may be explained by the exploitation of gold of Echedorus river (also by the Euboeans?). Tiverios states that the Euboean pottery found in Sindos may be a strong argument that the Second Greek Colonization started in Northern Greece around the same with that in South Italy and Sicily. He had suggested that in the "Double Trapeza" in Sindos a trading post ("εμπόριο") was established with mixed population (vs. Kotsonas 2015, about the possibility that the site was a port of call for the Euboean ships). Tiverios furthermore notes that "northern greek" pottery like the one found in Sindos was also discovered in Lefkandi on Euboea (see eg AEMTH 1996). As Tiverios argues evidence of metal workshop activities are evident from several findings during excavations as well as the remnants from a bronzesmith's workshop that was discovered in Section A. During the 7th c. BC the settlement seems to have shrunk and is limited mainly to the S part of the trapeza (table). The uninhabited N part of the table was mainly used as a site for refuse.
